Hercules Movie Quotes
"Hercules" movie quotes bring the classic story of the Greek demigod back to the big screen for another feature film. Directed by Brett Ratner, the movie was written by Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos. "Hercules" opened in theaters in the United States on July 25, 2014.

In "Hercules," the title character (Dwayne Johnson) appears just after his twelve labors, where he proved himself as a demigod and built up quite a reputation as someone who should not be messed with. Despite really only wanting to be a simple, non-violent husband and father, Hercules is urged to work as a sword-for-hire as he simply is the only one around who has a chance at what the people are facing.

With fierce persistence from Amphiaraus (Ian McShane), Hercules reluctantly agrees to help the King of Thrace (John Hurt) and his daughter in fighting an evil warlord. He is not fighting alone, however, with Autolycus (Rufus Sewell) and Atalanta (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) right by his side as they go up against enemies who would easily take down mortals, but prove to be quite the match for someone like Hercules.

"Hercules" is just one of several summer blockbusters hitting theaters in 2014 as it opens alongside "Planes: Fire & Rescue," "Sex Tape," "Wish I Was Here, "And So It Goes, "Dawn of Planet of the Apes," "A Long Way Down," "Tammy," "Earth to Echo," "Deliver Us from Evil," "Transformers: Age of Extinction," "Snowpiercer," "Begin Again," "They Came Together," "Think Like a Man Too," "22 Jump Street, "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "Hellion," "The Rover," and The Fault in Our Stars."

A Man With a Course
Amphiaraus: "A man with a course can be stronger than a god. Take revenge for your family. Save these people and restore order to this world."

Once again, Amphiaraus urges Hercules to stand up to their enemies and save the people from this wrath. He tries to get Hercules to think he has no other option and that might just be working.
I Only Want to Be a Husband and a Father
Amphiaraus: "We all know your legend. Your name is a rallying cry. We all know your legend. You're son of Zeus."
Hercules: "I only want to be a husband and a father."
Autolycus: "You cannot deny what you are. The gods will punish you for it."

Despite his legend, Hercules does not wish to be the man everyone thinks he is. He wants a simple life as a husband and father. Is that too much to ask?
I Am Hercules!
Amphiaraus: "No matter how far you go, man cannot escape his fate. Who are you? Are you a murderer? Are you a mercenary who turns his back on the innocent? We believe in you! We have faith in you! Remember the deeds you have performed, the labors you have overcome! Are you only the legend or are you truth behind the legend? Now, tell me, who are you?"
Hercules: "I am Hercules!"

Amphiaraus inspires Hercules to look within himself to find out who he really is. Hercules comes with a legendary reputation but now it's time to show everyone what he's got.
We Walked Into a Trap
Cotys: "We are too late."
Autolycus: "And we walked into a trap."
Rhesus: "Surrender now and we shall consider being merciful."
Hercules: "Look at me. Do I look afraid?"

Hercules and crew think they've come upon a field of fallen men but really they walk into a trap. Rhesus gives them an easy out, to surrender, but Hercules isn't interested in any of that.
The People Need a Hero
Ergenia: "The people need a hero."
Hercules: "I am no hero."

Ergenia begs Hercules to stand up to those who endanger them. He, however, doesn't seem interested in the battle.
Do We Die in This Battle?
Hercules: "Do we die in this battle?"
Autolycus: "My time's not come yet. Not sure about yours."

Not that he expected to anyone to say yes, Hercules asks if this is their time to die. Autolycus votes no.
Hell On Earth
Amphiaraus: "The gods that killed your family have unleashed hell on earth. They are the descendants of Hades. They cannot be killed by an ordinary mortal."

Amphiaraus explains the current state of events to Hercules. Descendants of Hades have started a battle and Hercules is the only one who is up to the task of taking them down.
Don't Do Anything Foolish
Autolycus: "Don't do anything foolish."
Ergenia: "Where are you going?"
Hercules: "To do something foolish"

Hercules isn't exactly great at following directions. When told not to do anything foolish, that's specifically what he does.
I Was Having a Moment
Amphiaraus: "My time…"
[Hercules stops the javelin]
Amphiaraus: "Do you mind? I was having a moment!"
Hercules: "You're welcome."

Amphiaraus isn't amused when Hercules steps in to stop a javelin coming their way. Hercules, on the other hand, thinks Amphiaraus should be thankful for the act.
The Gods Will Never Forgive You
Amphiaraus: "If you do this, the gods will never forgive you."

Now that he's finally convinced Hercules to take on the fight of his life, Amphiaraus reminds him that he is about to upset the gods and that's something you don't come back from.
