17 Spontaneous Choreographed Dances in Film
Dance movies are fun, but do you know what is even more fun? Spontaneous dancing in movies that really have nothing to do with dancing at all. The best is when they are synchronized dance routines. When one appears in a film, the audience at first is like, "Wow, what an unexpected thing!" Then, maybe a reaction is, "Gosh, this choreography is complicated! Maybe some friends and I should learn it and perform at parties." Finally, maybe about a minute or two into the spontaneous dance routine that is perfectly choreographed, you are like, "Wait, when in heck did everyone learn this? How long did it take? When and where did they hold practices? Whose idea was it? Who planned it? Who invented the routine? Why is the least popular girl in school right in the very front row??"

Well, anyway. Here are the greatest synchronized dance routines in non-musical films. What that means is: There is only really one song in the whole film that has dancing to it, and the dance is choreographed and performed by more than one person who also knows the routine. How they both / all know the steps is anyone's guess. It includes dances done on dance floors, like at the prom in She's All That or at the other thing in 13 Going on 30 (which was the "Thriller" dance, btw). It also includes dances that were choreographed by supernatural forces, like in Beetlejuice, as well as the one from the end of Slumdog Millionaire. Great! Fun! Watch them all, and vote up your favorites.

13 Going on 30
Jenna and Matt learned the "Thriller" routine as kids, but will he join in with the rest of the people at this business event when each and every one of them remembers and performs all of the steps in unison?
Bande à part
After a minute of silence at a crowded restaurant, Odile, Arthur, and Franz spontaneously do "the Madison dance" to music composed for the film by Michel Legrand.
Beetlejuice
The Deetz family dinner party turns downright loony when Lydia and the Maitlands have their frenemy, Orange Beetle, pump up the "Day-O." It's only one of FOUR Harry Belafonte songs you can hear in the film.
Boogie Nights
Successful new porn star Dirk Diggler and his pals head out to the disco and spontaneously do this funky dance routine to "Machine Gun" by The Commodores.
She's All That
In the middle of prom, all of the kids in the whole school dance in sync to "The Rockafeller Skank" by Fatboy Slim. Also, the DJ at the prom is Usher.
The Breakfast Club
During the longest Saturday of their lives, five high school kids fought, learned, grew, became lifelong BFFs (probably), and invented really fun dance routines to "We Are Not Alone" by Karla Devito.
The Mask
In her ever film role, Cameron Diaz stole hearts by doing this elaborate dance with Jim Carrey to "Hey Pachucho" by Royal Crown Revue.
(500) Days of Summer
Tom had a pretty great day, and now everyone in Downtown LA is getting into the spirit by jiving to Hall & Oates hit "You Make My Dreams Come True."
Something Borrowed
An old wives' tale says adult women spend enough time together, their dance moves sync up. Here, two zany single gal pals enjoy girls' night by performing the routine they dreamed up for "Push It" by Salt-N-Pepa.
Ex Machina
Kyoko may not know a word of English, but she knows how to tear up the dance floor with her boss to the sweet sounds of "Get Down Saturday Night" by Oliver Cheatham.
