Your Oscar Picks 2014: Best Director
The Oscar picks for the 2014 Best Director category are for the men behind the camera whose vision, attention to detail and commitment to excellence made the best films of the year. Who should win and who does win isn't always the same, especially like when the 2013 movies were so amazing, but that won't stop us from ranking them all right here.

If the 2013 Golden Globes are any indication, and usually they're pretty close, then the 2014 Academy Award for Best Director is Alfonso Cuaron's to lose. With just two actors, the vast setting of outer space and a whole bunch of computer graphics, Cauron taught a clinic in filmmaking with the 3D science-fiction drama "Gravity."

Though his "Gravity" was nothing short of masterful, Cuaron far from a lock to win Best Director. He has good competition from other directors, especially those whose movies also earned Best Picture consideration like Steve McQueen and his painful but brutally honest "12 Years a Slave," David O. Russell with his highly praised "American Hustle," Alexander Payne whose "Nebraska" might be the best movie you haven't seen. Then again, there are plenty of seasoned veterans that could pull a major upset like Martin Scorsese, who saw success with his "The Wolf of Wall Street."

Who are you liking for the Best Director award at the 2014 Oscars? Or more importantly, who should win? Share your thoughts by voting for your favorites all below! Done here? Head over and give your picks for Best Actor and Best Actress too!

The Best Whodunit Movies

List of the best whodunit movies, as ranked by mystery movie fans and film critics from all over the world. There’s something thrilling about watching a fictional mystery unfold in front of your very eyes on the big screen. Unlike real life mysteries, you get to experience the beginning, middle, and end of the entire whodunit mystery. These movies include the moment the crime takes place to the second the detective or intelligent protagonist reveals the real culprit in a parlor room-type scene. Many of these whodunit film are gruesome mysteries where a murder has taken place, such as Primal Fear and Identity, while some are more humorous adventures, like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Clue.

Not all of the mysteries in these films are about death.Like in the case of The Prestige and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, the mystery is about the real motivation and actions of puzzling characters. However, most of these films are defined by their incredible detective characters, like Poirot in the Agatha Christie mysteries, who sift through clues and solve crimes like it was solving a crossword puzzle.

What are the best whodunit movies of all time? This list features the top movies that have whodunit mysteries as the center of the film.

The Best Date Movies

The Best Date Movies
What are the best date movies? That's a tricky question, because you've got your first date movies and your second date movies...and so on. This list of top films for date night includes a wide variety of different kinds of films that will hopefully make for an excellent evening of snuggling and discussion. Many of these films are some of the best romantic comedies of all time. These are the movies you really can't go wrong watching on date night. Vote up your favorites, vote down any you had to suffer through on bad dates and of course, rerank this list any way you want. And, if your favorite date night film is missing, add it!

While a list of the best date movies will likely be dominated by romantic comedies ("rom-coms"), this list also includes some great dramas, some classic funny movies and a handful of horror movies, too. Why? Because not everybody likes Hollywood rom-coms. Sometimes you want to dig a little deeper. A great date night movie can spur some interesting discussion and, in the case of horror movies, can bring you two much closer - literally.

One caveat with the date night movie choices: Please, unless you are absolutely certain your sweetie loves period movies, do not, repeat, do not make them suffer through long, sweepingly epic films like 'The English Patient.' Yes, the movie is romantic but trust me, stick with the lighter fare. The same goes for other great epic movies like the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy. It's fine if your date is a huge fan, but if not? Bad idea. Also, beware the tearjerker movies. You don't want to be sitting there blubbering like a baby in front of a date when Mufasa dies in 'The Lion King,' do you?

If you're really in doubt, go with one of these highly rewatchable movies and/or a selection from this list of the best movies of all time.

The Best Psychological Thrillers of All Time

The Best Psychological Thrillers of All Time
List of the best psychological thrillers and mystery films ever made. Though a variety of definitions for the "psychological thriller" genre have been offered, there is no universally accepted set of guidelines. In general, psychological thrillers integrate personal character elements into mystery and suspense films, essentially toeing the line between a dramatic character study and the sort of plot structure you'd expect from a detective movie. Many psychological thrillers resemble traditional thrillers or suspense films, only with a personal, internal antagonist rather than a traditional movie villain. (For example, "Repulsion" or "The Conversation," in which the plot is moved forward by the main character's growing paranoia and madness.) In many films of this type, the solution to the main character's conflict comes in the form of altering their perspective or discovering some buried truth about themselves and their past, rather than winning a fight or battling an opponent.

Many psychological thrillers play around with the main character's back story, or make use of an unreliable narrator. Films like Christopher Nolan's "Memento" present the audience with one perspective on the story, and then generate suspense by showing the ways in which "reality" contrasts to this perspective. (This sometimes, but not always, results in a "twist" or surprise ending based on the difference between the main character's perception and that of outside observers.) Several Alfred Hitchcock films utilize this technique, particularly movies like "Spellbound" and "Marnie," in which the story concerns a character becoming mentally well after years of madness and confusion.

This list contains the very best films from the psychological thriller genre. It is Open and Voteranked, so be sure to vote for your favorites and add any other movies we missed at the bottom of the page.

Musical Movies With the Best Songs

Musical Movies With the Best Songs
What are the greatest musical movies with the best songs? This list includes many of the greatest movies ever made, in large part because of the incredible songs they feature. These movies are the ones you stop and sing along to, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Vote for the musical movies that you think featured the best songs, vote down any you don't like and please, feel free to re-rank this list in any order you like. Also, if you've got a favorite film that isn't listed, add it!

There is a reason that the Academy Awards recognizes "best original song" in addition to score: Songs from films are incredibly important. Movies with the best soundtracks are already good, but they become positively iconic with great music. Films like "The Wizard of Oz" are already true classics, but with Judy Garland singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"? Even better.

Not surprisingly, this list includes movie adaptations of some of the best Broadway musicals ever made: "Les Miserables," "The Phantom of the Opera" and "West Side Story," to name a few. Each one of these movies included many, if not all, of the most memorable songs from the Broadway soundtracks.

Every film listed here could easily be considered among the best music movies ever made, but in this case, it's about the songs: "Tomorrow" from "Annie," "Circle of Life" from "The Lion King" and "My Favorite Things" from "The Sound of Music" - can you honestly say you don't sing along? Didn't think so.

If you love movies, and you love music, you'll definitely want to check out (and vote) on this list of the movies with that best soundtracks ever, too.

Matt Damon's Best Characters

Matt Damon
If you've read my Liam Neeson list you would know he is my all-time favorite actor. It just so happens that Matt Damon is number 2. His characters have a lot of depth and always has played unique characters. I really don't know how most people feel about Matt Damon, but I am all about badass noteworthy characters. I really don't care if someone says anything negative about him.
http://www.ranker.com/list/matt-damon_s-best-characters/stokified,

Miller

In the Green Zone Matt Damon plays this Warrant Officer who is trying to locate WMD's in Iraq. The idea of this movie is pretty controversial and is complete fiction. A lot of the movie actually makes sense of what could have happened. A Warrant Officer who is on is own fucking program (OFP) decides to dig into a story that is really deep and that Army special forces don't want him to figure out. All he is trying to do is find the truth, which is uncommon nowadays. Then he meets this reporter who is trying to uncover the truth as well.
Colin Sullivan

This character really is a scumbag in The Departed. I do respect the loyalty he has with a major crime boss that supported him as a child though. Matt Damon is a villain and it's pretty understandable why he is a mole in a the police department. Matt Damon is a bad guy that makes sense, how bout that?
Mitch Emhoff

Matt Damon plays a guy whose wife dies and she spreads a deadly virus in Contagion. Apparently his wife was also cheating on him, which he finds out in the movie. Matt Damon is a Dad of a teenage girl where all he is trying to do is protect her from this deadly disease outbreak. The outbreak isn't extremely over the top and is well done if there was ever a virus to wipe out a population on Earth (Black Plague anyone?). All in all it was a good movie and the outbreak was created by a bat taking a dump on pigs, so there you go. I just spoiled the movie for you if you haven't seen it.
Will Hunting

Will Hunting is a nonconformist genius who would rather do construction then be some douchebag that only cares about money. A lot has to do with an abusive childhood and really bad experiences. He got a Ivy League education from the library of all places.
Matt Damon

Matt Damon is trying to be depicted negatively in Team America: World Police. I really don't know the reason the South Park creator wanted to make fun of him, but it proved that you don't make fun of Matt Damon. So Matt Damon was this little puppet that just said Matt Damon, that was his only line. It's one of the funniest parts of the movie and Matt Damon really doesn't come across that bad. I have no idea what Damon's political beliefs are, but it probably had a lot to do about why he was being spoofed.
Mike McDermott

In this movie Matt Damon plays this poker genius. His achilles heel is whenever he plays against this Russian guy that he simply can't read. The whole movie is about him losing a shit ton of money then quitting poker. His good buddy worm (Edward Norton) drags him back into the poker game when he gets out of prison. It really is a great movie and will only get better as time goes on. I didn't even know what Texas hold'em was in 1998 and now it's probably the biggest card game in the world. This movie was way ahead of its time.
Francois Pienaar

The movie Invictus is really about Nelson Mandella. It's about how Mandella uses the South African rugby team the Springboks to unify the country. Matt Damon's character is the Captain of the team and buys into everything Mandella is trying to do for the country. It really is a great story and Matt Damon is a believable rugby Captain.
Linus Caldwell

Linus Caldwell is one of the lamest guys in all of the Ocean's movies. He is panicky and is always trying to impress everyone. He is always trying to live up to how great his Dad was. This character does evolve over the movies and is pretty pivotal in the most recent Ocean movie.
Jason Bourne

I've really seen these movies way too many times. I still like them and still think Matt Damon is brilliant. He is a spy who has amnesia who has flashbacks all the time. Every single Bourne movie with Matt Damon I loved. If there was ever a super soldier of some kind this is what he would look like. Not 20 feet tall and able to jump a mile in a single bound.
Private Ryan

Basically Saving Private Ryan is about a group of Army Rangers trying to find Private Ryan after the invasion of Normandy in World War 2. This regiment of guys take a bunch of casualties and go through hell to find a Private of all people. Eventually the group of Rangers led by Tom Hanks meets up with Private Ryan and tells him they have orders to bring him back. All of Private Ryan's brothers died in the war and the US Army does not want every single brother to die in a war (this really does happen). So this Private tells a Captain I'm not leaving because all of his friends he's with are his new brothers and he wants to stay and fight. The likely hood of a Captain listening to the private is pretty small, it really doesn't make sense. Movie wise Matt Damon's character was great and I would have been inspired to fight with him if he gave me that great of a speech.

All Transformers Cars
A list of cars used in the Transformers movie franchise. What cars were in the Transformers movies? Over 80 cars have been included, with pictures! General Motors definitely scored a win when they were licensed to provide most of the cars for Transformers. What cars were used in Transformers? For many gear-heads, Bumblebee was their introduction to the new, 5th generation Chevy Camaro. Fortunately, with the second movie, we finally began to see super cars with the Audi R8, and later with the Mercedes Benz SLS, and Ferrari 458 (the latter one even being an Autobot). While the everyday versions of these cars might not turn into robots, they're still great to drive.

These days one of the best ways to advertise your product is to have it in a blockbuster movie. Transformers is perfect for auto makers because any of them would be happy to have their vehicles featured in a Transformers movie. On the other side of the coin however Transformers also needs to make money and by having cool cars in their films they can attract more people. It is a win-win situation then for automakers like Ferrari and Mercedes and Audi to team up with the producers of Transformers and have their cars in the next Transformers film. If you want to see some more cool cars from the movies check out the best James Bond cars list.

A List About How Great Liam Neeson's Movie Roles Are

A List About How Great Liam Neeson
I don't have many man crushes, but I am always rooting for Liam Neeson. He could play the worst possible character and I would say please don't die early in the movie again. Liam Neeson dying in your movie equals your movie sucking. If you have to kill a character don't kill his.
http://www.ranker.com/list/a-list-where-i-talk-about-great-liam-neeson-characters-are/stokified,

Admiral Shane

I didn't watch Battleship because I heard it was terrible. I'm sure all the scenes with Liam Neeson were great though. I could picture Liam Neeson as an Admiral.
Qui-Gon Jinn

I'd happily work for the guy who trained Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader at the same time. This guy is a complete badass. Seriously he died another time in the movie. What the hell?
Captain Mikhail Polenin

If Liam Neeson was the Captain of the ship I was on I'd be thrilled. He's kind of the laid back guy that everyone likes and respects. The Soviet Union being the Soviet Union sends Harrison Ford to be the Captain. Eventually there was something wrong with the nuclear part of the submarine and a bunch of people die. If Liam Neeson was Captain nobody dies, simple as that.
Aslan

Okay I never knew this about Liam Neeson, but he really does play the voice of Aslan in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. The character that most resembles Jesus in any movie that isn't a fictional Jesus. If a lion with Liam Neeson's voice told me to do something, I would do it. No questions asked. Aslan does die in the first LWW movie, but thankfully he comes back to life.
Zeus

I really don't care if Liam Neeson was a good guy or bad guy during this movie. To be honest I fell asleep 30 minutes in (in a movie theater). I personally think Liam Neeson would be a great god of all gods. He can control the universe if he wants to. It's cool with me.
Priest Vallon

The absolute biggest badass in Gangs of New York was Priest Vallon. He does die early in the movie. If somehow he didn't die and he told me to beat the shit out of all of the locals that held allegiance to Bill the Butcher, you bet your ass I would have done what he told me to do.
Godfrey De Ibelin

Let's just forget that he ever died early in the movie (again). Instead of Orlando Bloom's idiotic character turning down the chance to be king of Jerusalem and being able to protect the city, we would have this guy be a king in Jerusalem. I'd proudly call him king.
Oskar Schindler

So basically working for this character means I won't be killed by Nazis. This is a real character who saved a bunch of Jews during the holocaust. Liam Neeson is that awesome he pulls this role off.
Henri Ducard

Only the most badass actor of all time would have a line like this^

Okay, so there is some guy out there who will bail me out of prison. Then teach me ninjitsu and give me a reason to live. All I have to do is destroy a city that is full of corruption and where some dbag shot my parents. The people I did care about in the city, I could have them easily removed before anything happened. Count me in. Did I mention Liam Neeson dies, again.
Bryan Mills

It would really be hard to work under this character in Taken. If there was a prequel to this movie I would definitely want to work under this character as a spy. He must have done some pretty crazy stuff in his younger years.

The Greatest Romantic Comedies of All Time

The Greatest Romantic Comedies of All Time
Romantic comedy is one of the oldest and most popular film genres of all time. The term "romantic comedy" can refer to pretty much any funny love story, but more specifically, it applies to movies that are light-heartened and fun to watch, and that reinforce the theme of true love conquering all. Very often, romantic comedy plots are driven by couples meeting and falling for one another, only to be forced apart by circumstance, and needing to find their way back to one another.

Almost every romantic comedy film ends with the main characters happily in love, or at least imply that, even if the primary relationship didn't work out, it has taught the lovers enough to be able to go out and find love elsewhere.

What are the best RomComs of all time? Romantic comedy is also among the most diverse and malleable genres, and has been melded and mashed-up with just about every other type of movie. The films of Judd Apatow, for example, combine romantic comedy elements with character types borrowed from "dude" comedies and stoner comedies. Romantic comedies with science-fiction or fantasy elements are also popular, such as the superhero parody "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," the time travel romance "Kate and Leopold" or the Mel Gibson vehicle "What Women Want."

This list includes the best romantic comedy films ever made. Have a few selections that didn't make the list? Add them to the bottom of the page! And don't forget to vote up all of your favorites.

Star Wars: Tattooine Hotel
Hotel Sidi Driss, Matmata Tunisia
Located in Matmata in Tunisia, Hôtel Sidi Driss has become one of the most famous filming locations of Star Wars, nicknamed the Star Wars hotel. It's a traditional Berber house, built centuries ago. It served as the interior for Lars' homestead on Tatooine, the exterior being filmed 300 kilometers west, on Chott el Jerid. After the filming of the first movie, A New Hope, the decorations were taken down, only to be completely rebuilt in 2000 for the filming of Attack of the Clones. The hotel is open all year and the decorations are still intact. There are five pits in the hotel, four of them with rooms; the fifth one, the Star Wars pit, is the hotel's restaurant. Although it is not allowed to sleep in the sets, it is possible to dine in the same room as in the film.
